We're very excited to announce our first A&S Collegium - Southern Outlands: Collegium De Nahrunia!

The event will be held on Saturday, September 29 2018 at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The day will consist of several classes, competitions, and displays, and lunch will be provided.

A&S Competition

The purpose of these unique arts and sciences competitions, and the event itself, is to encourage those of us still hesitant to step through the door and into the world of competition. It is a daunting task to work hard on a project and then put yourself in the spotlight to be critiqued and judged.

We hope that this event and these competitions will encourage more participation in the Arts and Sciences throughout the kingdom. Although the competition categories are meant to be very fun and relaxed, they are also a great way to get helpful feedback and gain confidence to participate in future competitions.

We need your help to make this work and spread the joy of the Arts and Sciences throughout the Kingdom. So if you're still on the fence about participating, let this be your sign! You have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. Remember, it's all supposed to be fun. And if you're reading this and thinking "I know someone who should definitely participate in this", then please tell them about this event! The dream works best when we all participate.

Several categories are planned for the competition:

Nahrun A&S Champion

In an attempt to encourage participation of persons new to Arts and Sciences competitions, we've designed this challenge to encourage creativity and critical thinking under time pressure.

Preregistration is required to participate in this challenge. To register please send your name and membership number to .

Entrants competing for Nahrun A&S champion will compete in a Siege build off. Each entrants will receive the same items and will have until the end of the competition, 4pm, to create their piece. The items to be provided will remain unknown until the start of the competition. Additional items not provided for this competition may not be used and any use of unsanctioned items will result in disqualification. Tools which will help you build your item, such as hammers, scissors, glue, and tape are allowed at the judges' discretion.

Judging will take place at 4pm. You will need to explain your item to the judges, your thought process, and what you attempted to make.

What you create is up to you. Use your creativity and imagination to build a unique item and become Nahruns champion of the Arts and Sciences.

Unfinished Projects

Entrants competing in the Unfinished Projects category may submit up to two unfinished items.

Three copies of documentation must be provided and need to explain what the item is, your process, why it is unfinished, and how long it's been unfinished. Additional details about your submission are welcome.

The item the populace wishes to see completed the most will be named the winner by popular vote. The winner will be strongly encouraged to complete their piece.

Worst Mistake

Entrants competing in the Worst Mistake category may submit up to two items. These items may be completed or unfinished.

Three copies of documentation must be provided and explain what the item is, what mistakes were made, and what was learned in the process. Additional information about your item is welcome.

Winner will be determined by popular vote and strongly encouraged to attempt the project again.

Entrants competing in the Largess category must create five of the same item which, after the competition, will be donated to kingdom largess.

Entrants must provide three copies of documentation which describe what the items are, your process, and any other relative information.

The winner will be determined by popular vote and will receive one of each of the other entrants items as their prize, the rest will be donated to kingdom largess.

Entrants in the display category may enter up to two items. No documentation is required, but is encouraged. Entrants must be prepared to talk to the populace about their item.

The display is not a competition, but a way to show off your work and get feedback.
